Learned how to light a fire!

Today was such a great day! We started the morning with a campaign in San Marcos. To get there we took a public boat across the lake and arrived at the very hippy town of San Marcos. When we arrived we split into two groups and I was in a group that went into what looked like a mountain full of trees but what was actually a bunch of homes in a maze on top of each other. It was such a cool town with lots of interested people. We went into peoples homes to publiczie to them our campaign and they seemed very interested.
We got to hang a poster in the Municipal Building!

After the campaign we returned back to San Juan by boat and went home for lunch. I had the MOST INCREDIBLE lunch of all time. I am seriously spoiled here. We had a large piece of grilled chicken, a salad, Guacamole, and grilled onions! I was in heaven and ate it way to quickly to the point where she called me out by saying I "Engordar".

After lunch we returned to work. My work was not exactly work because for our Charla on friday we are going to demonstrate how our stoves work. So me and Nicole, the worst Spanish speakers of our group, decided to take on the stove and learn how to start a fire so we could cook popcorn for the audience. Bo tried to explain to us how to light the fire and a father saw this happening and made fun of the fact that the women are learning from a man how to cook... This is a comment that really represents the culture of Guatemala. But this man took over and explained to us what types of wood and good strategies for lighting the fire. We blew out his fire and started from scratch and SUCCESSFULLY even though we were being laughed at the whole time were able to make a fire big enough to pop an entire pot of popcorn!

After we learned how to light a fire we worked on our stove catalog. We had been struggling with the graphic design for a while and we finally found a great template to use!

We worked on this way past the time we were supposed to stop because it was so fun! I returned home for a dinner of chicken tamales. Raylin didn't like them so she also brought out a bowl of fruit for us. I liked the tamales! After dinner we talked for a while at the table all about how different it is that I would travel so far away from my family for so long. We also talked about her job in the post office and how expensive it is to send stuff to the United States. Because products are so cheap the cost of shipping almost doubles the price of most things. After dinner we talked about what we are going to be cooking for her tomorrow! She has a wood burning stove, a gas stove, and an oven! So I am definitely going to make something delicious for dinner!

Rosa then came in with her music and the entire family was in the kitchen dancing! I brought out my hair tyes and gave one to all the girls in the family. Rosa took the one that says my name on it in order to remember me. Raylin gave the mom tea and decorative faces which were beautiful. Micaila kept saying how much fun she was having and was sad we were leaving. Rosa kept hugging us and wanting to take pictures together.
