Also, we found out the results of our campaign yesterday! We sold 17 pairs of glasses, 3 water filters, a rocket stove, and 20 packets of seeds! It was such a successful day!
Our morning was dedicated to publicizing the fundraiser we are having on Wednesday for the special Education school. We went to five different schools all in the town of Nebaj and all of which we could walk to. While there we talked to the principal about our event and hung posters around the school. We planned the carnival is during normal school hours so that the schools could bring the schools to the event. We expect a lot of schools to come because a lot of the principals seemed excited and eager to support the special education school. The kids at all the schools were adorable. Most of the schools had a uniform and a different PE uniform. I was surprised how nice these schools were. Also, whenever we walked into the building all the kids would start screaming and pointing and running towards us.
School boys in uniform- so cute!
School girls in uniform or in Traje
Hanging up the signs all over the different schools
The Beautiful Posters we made!
I returned home for lunch which was one of the worst meals I had here. It was a weird soup with only rice, a tamale shaped tortilla that was mushy and gross, the balls of a chicken (or at least thats what it looked like), potatoes, corn on the cob and carrots(yum). So immediately after lunch I went to the restaurant we always meet at to get my favorite fruit bowl which was definitely necessary.
After lunch we had a group meeting about our progress on our Stove initiative. We set goals for the year on our project including making a Stove Catalog, Stove Day and Campaign Day best practice sheet, and a Charla script. We then talked about things we need to improve for our next campaigns and stove days. It was a really necessary meeting that really let all of our ideas finally be put down on paper. I never realized how helpful reflection time is but it really is the basis of making real improvements.
I returned home for a dinner of fried cauliflower (actually delicious), salsa, and avocado followed by an orange for dessert! It was a great meal! I then taught my brothers and their cousins how to play Charades and wrote a bunch of words on paper and we played for a while. They loved the game even though the words could not have been easier. I finally got to know the cousin Jessica because she helped me write all the words.
Tomorrow we have our publicity day starting at 6:30 in the morning! Good night for now!
