Esperanza Bonding Day and Stove Day

Want to start out by saying HAPPY BIRTHDAY BUBBY! Today, Saturday, I am currently missing my grandpas 90th birthday party in St. Louis with all of my mom's side of the family. Hopefully they like my video!

Instead, I arrived at the aldea of Chiul to do our second stove day. It was market day and there were hundreds of people swarming us when we arrived. The streets were all blocked off and we had to carry 5 large stoves so we could cook popcorn and hot chocolate. We were in the middle of the entire market and it was extemely hectic at first. We set up eye exams in a small room on the side of the market and I was in charge of the near vision exams. I sold about 5 pairs of glasses and was pretty proud of my success. It was a lot better than our Salquil campaign as for the most part I felt like I could communicate with the people. There was an exception when I was talking to a 75 year old man who quoted in Spanish "I am 75 and I need an eye exam from someone I can actually understand. I do not want to talk to you please bring me someone I can understand". After this rude comment I brought over Anna who was able to help him but he was also extremely stuck up and rude to her. But other than that we had pretty good success with the eye exams.
But, we did not sell one stove and only sold one out of 4 water filters. Overall, it was not such a successful campaign day.

At dinner!

The rest of the night was really fun! We all stayed in hotel Villa Nebaj had dinner together and had some serious Esperanza bonding time for the rest of the night. It was such a fun night!
