What was supposed to be just a day devoted to promoting the selling of our stoves and giving out free food quickly turned into a full campaign. So many people were asking about the glasses and the eye exams that Anna put the responsibility on Varun and I to get the eye exams set up and started. We set up the far vision exams and a spot for the near vision ones. He was in charge of signing everyone in and giving them a number, we put Nicole and Gabby in charge of the far vision exams, and WHitney and I were in charge of the near vision exams. The near vision exams were really fun for me! We got to really personally interact with each client. We gave them a near vision exam and then were there to listen to their problem and if the glasses or eye drops could solve their problem we were there to offer them to them at a great price. It was the best feeling when someone could only read two out of 5 lines on the exam and after giving them the right glasses they could read all the way to the bottom. I was able to sell about 10 different pairs of glasses! It was such a successful day! We also were selling other products but I was so consumed with giving eye exams I will find out tomorrow the totals of all of our sales.
Giving an eye exam and offering her glasses to try
I returned home for a lunch of Low mein, a surprisingly common lunch here, and then I accompanied my family to an Evangelical church service. It was quite an interesting first time church experience. There was so much singing and because it was Evangelical everyone is very into their religion and into the prayers and songs. I have no point of comparison to other churches so I really should not say much other than I enjoyed seeing another culture and how religious the people I am surrounded by are. My mother who prays before each meal was also very into every prayer.
My brothers and I after the church- Miguelito on the left and Efraim on the right
