Today was our first day of work in Solola. We were divided into two different teams to tackle two different projects. First we got a complimentary breakfast at the hotel we are staying at. This was just a start to my great day of food.
Great Breakfast to start the day...with extra fruit on the side
My group is in charge of the weaving cooperative Sanik. It is a weaving cooperative that is led by the regional coordinator of Solola. She organized the woman in her village to create Sanik, what used to be called "The women of Triunfo" but recently changed its name. Our group has three goals for the week:
1. Figure out if the company should register as a for profit or non profit company
2. Make a list of designs that are popular in the states so that they can reach a larger audience
3. Create a wholesale catalog so they can reach more than just the local people and gain an international presence.
Nicole and I took on the job of the whole sale catalog and are struggling with wrod to try to create a professional looking catalog. We have made 4 pages so far and are looking forward to seeing some final products!
For lunch we went to a local deli where I got an amazing salad with Grilled chicken.
My amazing salad
We did more work in the afternoon and then went to the gym! We rode the bike cause they didnt have treadmills ;( and then we did abs and arms. It was a great work out after a great day of food!
Gabby on the bike!
For dinner I had another amazing meal of grilled chicken, avocado, tomatoes, and HEARTS OF PALM!
Yum.
Now finally caught up with my blog after a great day of great food, some work, and exersize! Tomorrow we have a campaign in the Soluciones Comunitarias store front which is different than in villages because this store is open 5 days a week every day of the year. Going to be an interesting new way to campaign and looking forward to understanding the pros and cons of a fixed point of sale location. Good night for now!
